Because raising boys shouldn’t feel this hard.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, frustrated, or utterly mystified as to why your son does certain things —you are not alone.
Maybe he melts down over “nothing.” Or shuts down when you try to talk. Maybe you're exhausted from trying to do it all “right” and getting call after call (or email after email) from his school anyway.
You’re not doing it wrong. You’re simply raising boys in a world that misunderstand males. I can help.

Who I Am
I’m Jennifer L.W. Fink — a journalist, speaker, and mom of four sons. I’m the founder of BuildingBoys.net, author of Building Boys: Raising Great Guys in a World That Misunderstands Males and The First-Time Mom’s Guide to Raising Boys, and co-host of the long-running ON BOYS parenting podcast.
Over the past 20+ years, I’ve interviewed leading experts on boys’ development, written for national outlets including The New York Times and Washington Post, and made every parenting mistake in the book. I’ve also helped thousands of parents better understand their sons—and themselves.
This newsletter is where I bring it all together: the research, the real-life experience, and the reassurance that you’re not failing—this is just what it feels like to raise boys in today’s world.
