Raising boys, of course.
Building Boys Book Club will be a space & time to discuss the challenges & joys of raising boys. A space to connect with other parents who understand and empathize with your experience. A place to experience support & share ideas.
A few of the questions we’ll discuss in our very session (Apr. 25!) include:
How do we raise confident & secure boys in a world that often paints masculinity in a negative light?
How do we teach boys to consider others’ needs when their own needs are so often ignored?
How do we advocate for our sons when doing so is considered — in some quarters, anyway — an attempt to preserve male dominance?
How do we help our boys navigate evolving gender norms while we adults are still unpacking the ways in which gender influences our lives?
These are the big questions of raising boys, and I, for one, find it super helpful to discuss them with other thoughtful parents.
Our first meeting is next Thursday, Apr. 25. We’ll meet live via Zoom at 8 pm ET/ 7 pm CT/ 6 pm MT/ 5 pm PT — & I’ll share a recording afterward with all registered participants, so you won’t miss anything if you can’t join on time/get pulled away to deal with life/etc.
We’ll be discussing the Intro & Chapter 1 of Building Boys: Raising Great Guys in a World That Misunderstands Males. If you don’t yet have a copy of the book, you can buy one here (an audio version is also available) or get one from your local library.
Also: No one’s going check to make sure you read the book. I won’t quiz anyone, so feel free to join us even if you haven’t yet read (or finished) the chapters we’re discussing.
I hope you’ll join us! Remember: Apr. 25, 8 pm ET/ 7 pm CT/ 6 pm MT/ 5 pm PT. Register now while you’re thinking about it. :)
Here’s to building boys!
